Looking back at our premier issue, I came to realize that it was a test shoot for the AfroStyle team. I knew what I wanted the magazine to stand for and everyone stepped up to the plate to relay them through our photos and editorials.
One thing I did notice is that we had no country of focus in any of the shoots and so this issue officially begins our focus. In our AfroStreet and AfroFusion we chose South Africa. We loved the clothes and the pop of colors South Africa has in accessories and wanted to showcase that with other trends. In AfroTraditional, we took Morocco as our country of focus. Shot in a Moroccan restaurant, the red, blue, and gold-a constant color theme in many Moroccan restaurants, created a very sexy and sophisticated atmosphere in each photo. In addition, the Moroccan dishes are highlighted in our AfroTaste section and Morocco is our AfroTravel pick in this issue.
Since AfroStyle Magazine is about creativity and thinking out of the box, AfroModa is a new feature that we came up with to showcase our creative side.
Of course we have our regular writers Ngoma Moghalu who candidly tells it like it is in her “Memoirs” and Ngozi Onyioha teaching us a thing about “Traditional Marriages-Past and its relevance in the Present”.
Thank you to our guest contributors Uju Nnama, Nneka Ezekwueche, Funmi Feyide John, Camille Lee, Roxy Maronyan and Erica Sanae for giving the magazine more depth and different dimensions for our readers to enjoy. To my graphic designer, Anastasia Kivman who took my vision of the magazine and created a phenomenal site that has generated such positive feedback from our readers. Finally, thank you to you for taking the time to check out the magazine.
