BLUEPRINT explores the history of photographing Black skin and the limitations imposed by an industry that once deemed it "too difficult" to light. Photographer Seyi and stylist Daniella Valen respond to that history through a cinematic visual language rooted in bold color, texture, and presence.
Inspired by the visual language of Ib Kamara, the editorial places Blackness at the center of the image - not as reference or token, but as its foundation. Through confrontational styling and saturated imagery, BLUEPRINT considers what happens when Black subjects are no longer asked to adapt to the frame, but the frame is built around them.
