Founded in 2009, AfroStyle Magazine is an independent editorial platform documenting and celebrating African-rooted multicultural and multiracial identities — both within and beyond the diaspora — through fashion, beauty, culture, and lifestyle storytelling.

AfroStyle centers African culture as a point of origin, while welcoming multicultural, multiracial, and non-African identities shaped by African influence, proximity, and cultural exchange. We are interested in how African aesthetics, values, and traditions travel, intersect, and evolve across communities and geographies.

We approach our work as both celebration and documentation, prioritizing depth, context, and cultural awareness over trend cycles or surface representation.

Our Editorial Focus

AfroStyle prioritizes stories that explore African influence as lived experience rather than aesthetic alone. We are particularly interested in work that engages with:

  • African fashion as cultural inheritance, lineage, and craft
  • Multicultural and multiracial identities within and beyond the African diaspora
  • Non-African creatives and communities influenced by African culture and exchange
  • Designers and cultural practitioners working across borders and blended identities
  • Visual storytelling rooted in process, meaning, and context
  • Narratives that highlight shared humanity, connection, and cultural dialogue

We value storytelling that asks why the work matters, where it comes from, and how it contributes to a broader cultural record.

Who Should Submit

We welcome submissions from:

  • Writers, photographers, stylists, designers, and multidisciplinary creatives
  • Contributors of African and non-African heritage
  • Emerging and established voices whose work reflects cultural awareness, intention, and substance

AfroStyle values originality, thoughtful framing, and respect for cultural context.

Our Approach

AfroStyle prioritizes:

Depth over immediacy Context over virality Long-form editorial and considered visual narratives Stories that move beyond seasonal hype

We are less interested in trend forecasting and more interested in documentation, continuity, and lived experience.
